Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Civil Estimator to join our client’s team in Tallahassee. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) projects, including highways, bridges, and related infrastructure. This role requires a thorough understanding of FDOT standards, strong analytical skills, and the ability to develop accurate and competitive cost estimates.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for FDOT projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to determine scope and requirements.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure comprehensive understanding of project needs.
- Utilize estimating software and tools to compile and present estimates.
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to obtain competitive pricing.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop contingency plans for cost estimation.
- Participate in bid review meetings and provide input on project feasibility and cost-saving opportunities.
- Stay updated with industry trends, FDOT regulations, and construction methods.
- Mentor and support junior estimators, providing guidance and training as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in civil construction estimating, with a focus on FDOT projects.
- Proficiency in estimating software such as HCSS, Bid2Win, or similar.
- Strong understanding of FDOT standards, specifications, and procedures.
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Proven track record of preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates.
