Project Manager – Heavy Civil Construction
Location: Raleigh, NC
Salary: $130K–$150K (depending on experience)
A well-established heavy civil contractor with a strong presence in eastern and central North Carolina is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join its team in Raleigh. This company is known for delivering complex roadway, highway, and site development projects with precision, safety, and a solutions-focused approach. Their work includes both DOT and private-sector contracts, and they’ve built lasting partnerships with municipalities, general contractors, and engineering firms throughout the region.
Recent projects include a $55M highway widening and resurfacing package, a $22M site development project for a major industrial facility, and a $35M multi-bridge and road realignment for the DOT. With over $200 million in active contracts and a backlog of upcoming bids, they are seeking a project leader who can manage civil construction projects from bid through closeout and contribute to continued growth in the Raleigh market.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Manage all phases of civil construction projects including scheduling, budgeting, and contract compliance
- Coordinate with superintendents, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to keep work progressing efficiently
- Oversee change orders, RFIs, submittals, and project documentation
- Review drawings and specifications to ensure scope clarity and alignment with field execution
- Monitor cost tracking, productivity, and project performance against key milestones
- Lead internal and external progress meetings and maintain strong communication with stakeholders
Key Skills & Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in project management within the heavy civil industry
- Strong knowledge of DOT standards, roadwork, utility coordination, and site grading
- Proficiency in project management and construction software (e.g., Procore, HCSS, Bluebeam)
- Strong organizational skills and ability to lead diverse project teams
- DOT experience is preferred but not required
