Heavy Civil Foreman – Roadway/Sitework
Location: Charlotte, NC
Salary: $105K (depending on experience)

 

A growing heavy civil contractor in the Charlotte area is looking to bring on a skilled Foreman to support upcoming roadway and site development projects. This company has been steadily expanding its presence across the Carolinas with a strong pipeline of DOT, municipal, and private civil work. Known for its hands-on leadership, safety-first culture, and commitment to quality, the company has built lasting relationships with developers, engineers, and public agencies alike.

 

They’ve recently completed several multi-million-dollar roadway improvement and sitework contracts throughout Mecklenburg County, including grading and utilities for a $25M logistics park, intersection improvements for a $15M DOT corridor upgrade, and mass earthwork and stormwater installation for a $12M private site development. With more work on the books and new contracts secured, they’re looking for a Foreman who can manage field crews and help drive production on complex, fast-paced jobs.

 

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead daily operations of field crews on roadway and sitework construction projects
  • Coordinate with Project Managers and Superintendents to ensure tasks are completed on schedule and within spec
  • Monitor safety, quality, and productivity on site, enforcing company policies and procedures
  • Read and interpret construction plans, site layouts, and utility drawings
  • Track crew hours, equipment usage, and material deliveries
  • Serve as the point of contact for field-level communication with subcontractors and vendors

 

Key Skills & Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in heavy civil construction as a Foreman or Leadman
  • Strong background in grading, utilities, and roadwork
  • Ability to manage small-to-mid-size crews with a focus on safety and efficiency
  • Skilled at interpreting construction documents and communicating expectations clearly
  • Comfortable operating or directing heavy equipment as needed
  • Prior experience with DOT or municipal roadway projects is a plus
