CEI Project Engineer (FDOT District 2)

 

Location: Jacksonville, FL

 

Overview: We are seeking a skilled CEI (Construction Engineering and Inspection) Project Engineer to join our clients team in Jacksonville, Florida, working within FDOT (Florida Department of Transportation) District 2. This role involves overseeing transportation infrastructure projects to ensure compliance with design specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. As a CEI Project Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in project management, coordination, and inspection to ensure successful project delivery.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee transportation construction projects within FDOT District 2.
  • Review and interpret construction plans, specifications, and drawings.
  • Coordinate project activities with contractors, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
  • Conduct on-site inspections to ensure compliance with project plans and specifications.
  • Monitor project progress, schedule, and budget adherence.
  • Prepare and review project documentation, reports, and correspondence.
  • Address technical issues and resolve construction-related challenges.
  • Implement quality control measures to ensure workmanship meets industry standards.
  • Collaborate with project teams and engineers to address design modifications or issues.
  • Manage project documentation and maintain accurate records.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Florida preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in transportation construction engineering and inspection.
  • Strong knowledge of FDOT standards, specifications, and procedures.
  • Experience in managing transportation construction projects from inception to completion.
  • Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality assurance.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with FDOT District 2 projects highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with construction materials testing and quality control processes.
  • Understanding of construction contract administration and project scheduling.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Prior experience with relevant software tools such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Primavera P6.
