Heavy Civil Superintendent – DOT/Sitework
Location:
Charlotte, NC
Salary: $120K (depending on experience)

I’m working with a well-established Heavy Civil Contractor based in Charlotte that’s known for delivering high-impact infrastructure projects across the Carolinas. From multi-million-dollar roadway improvements to complex commercial site developments, they’ve built a reputation for quality, speed, and execution. Their portfolio includes collaborations with local municipalities, private developers, and state DOTs.

In recent years, they’ve successfully delivered over $180 million in heavy civil contracts, including a $40M full-depth roadway reconstruction project, a $28M interstate ramp and traffic improvement package, and multiple sitework contracts ranging from $5M–$20M for logistics centers, schools, and manufacturing facilities. With a focus on safety, schedule, and precision, they’re looking to bring on an experienced Superintendent to lead crews on upcoming projects throughout the Charlotte region.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Oversee all field operations for roadway, site development, and infrastructure projects from start to finish
  • Coordinate daily activities of field crews, subcontractors, and vendors to maintain productivity and quality
  • Ensure work is performed in compliance with plans, specs, permits, and safety standards
  • Manage materials, equipment, and labor resources to keep the project on schedule and under budget
  • Conduct regular inspections, lead jobsite meetings, and resolve field issues proactively
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers, and Inspectors to ensure seamless communication and execution

Key Skills & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience supervising heavy civil construction projects, particularly roadways, grading, underground utilities, or sitework
  • Solid understanding of DOT standards, site development sequencing, and civil construction best practices
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to direct crews, subcontractors, and vendors effectively
  • Ability to read and interpret civil plans, schedules, and specifications
  • Proficiency with field reporting tools and scheduling software (e.g., HCSS, Procore, or similar)
  • NCDOT project experience is a plus, but not required

Why Join?

  • Be part of a company that’s actively shaping Charlotte’s infrastructure landscape
  • Lead exciting, high-value projects with a team that values accountability and results
  • Competitive compensation with long-term growth opportunities in field operations and leadership
