Heavy Civil Superintendent – DOT/Sitework
Location: Charlotte, NC
Salary: $120K (depending on experience)
I’m working with a well-established Heavy Civil Contractor based in Charlotte that’s known for delivering high-impact infrastructure projects across the Carolinas. From multi-million-dollar roadway improvements to complex commercial site developments, they’ve built a reputation for quality, speed, and execution. Their portfolio includes collaborations with local municipalities, private developers, and state DOTs.
In recent years, they’ve successfully delivered over $180 million in heavy civil contracts, including a $40M full-depth roadway reconstruction project, a $28M interstate ramp and traffic improvement package, and multiple sitework contracts ranging from $5M–$20M for logistics centers, schools, and manufacturing facilities. With a focus on safety, schedule, and precision, they’re looking to bring on an experienced Superintendent to lead crews on upcoming projects throughout the Charlotte region.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Oversee all field operations for roadway, site development, and infrastructure projects from start to finish
- Coordinate daily activities of field crews, subcontractors, and vendors to maintain productivity and quality
- Ensure work is performed in compliance with plans, specs, permits, and safety standards
- Manage materials, equipment, and labor resources to keep the project on schedule and under budget
- Conduct regular inspections, lead jobsite meetings, and resolve field issues proactively
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers, and Inspectors to ensure seamless communication and execution
Key Skills & Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience supervising heavy civil construction projects, particularly roadways, grading, underground utilities, or sitework
- Solid understanding of DOT standards, site development sequencing, and civil construction best practices
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to direct crews, subcontractors, and vendors effectively
- Ability to read and interpret civil plans, schedules, and specifications
- Proficiency with field reporting tools and scheduling software (e.g., HCSS, Procore, or similar)
- NCDOT project experience is a plus, but not required
