Project Manager / Project Administrator – Roadway

Job Description:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Project Manager / Project Administrator to oversee the planning, execution, and management of roadway and infrastructure construction projects for a government agency in Western Florida. In this role, you will be responsible for managing project timelines, budgets, resources, and communication between internal teams, contractors, and government stakeholders to ensure the successful completion of infrastructure projects.
As a key part of the team, you will work on a variety of public-sector projects, including roadways, bridges, utilities, and other transportation-related infrastructure. Key Responsibilities:
- Project Oversight: Manage the full lifecycle of construction projects, from initial planning and budgeting through execution, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to specifications.
- Scheduling & Coordination: Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, track progress, and coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and internal teams to resolve any issues that arise during the construction phase.
- Budget Management: Oversee project budgets, track expenses, and ensure projects remain within financial constraints. Work with finance teams to monitor project costs and handle any necessary adjustments or change orders.
- Contract Administration: Assist in the preparation, review, and management of project contracts and subcontracts. Ensure that all contract terms are met, and resolve any contractual issues that may arise.
- Quality Control & Compliance: Ensure construction activities meet regulatory requirements, safety standards, and quality specifications. Monitor field activities to ensure compliance with construction plans, codes, and applicable regulations.
- Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders, contractors, vendors, and government agencies. Provide regular project updates, reports, and presentations to ensure stakeholders are informed.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks to project schedules or budgets and work proactively to develop solutions to mitigate those risks.
- Document Control: Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including permits, change orders, progress reports, and correspondence with stakeholders.
- Problem Solving & Issue Resolution: Quickly identify and address any issues or delays in the construction process, working with contractors and government teams to find effective solutions.
- Reporting & Administrative Support: Prepare and submit regular project progress reports, invoices, and other administrative documents required by the government agency.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in project management or project administration within the construction, infrastructure, or public works sector.
- Construction Knowledge: Familiarity with roadway construction, civil infrastructure projects, and government procurement processes.
- Project Management Skills: Proven ability to manage multiple projects, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation. Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Technical Proficiency: Experience with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, or similar) and document management systems. Knowledge of construction specifications and regulations.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of relevant local, state, and federal regulations related to public infrastructure and construction projects.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact with diverse stakeholders and present complex information clearly.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on delivering results under pressure.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Construction Certifications: PMP (Project Management Professional) or CCM (Certified Construction Manager) certification preferred.
- Experience with Government Projects: Experience working with government agencies or in the public sector, particularly in roadway or infrastructure development projects.
- Knowledge of FDOT Standards: Familiarity with Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) guidelines and requirements is a plus.
Compensation:
- Base Salary: Up to $91,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
